After surveying process engineers about their emerging application needs for fixed toxic gas detectors, General Monitors has developed a next-generation total toxic monitoring solution with the new TS4000 Toxic Gas Detector. The advanced TS4000 Toxic Gas Detector combines highly reliable electrochemical cell sensors with intelligent microprocessor technology and innovative packaging to provide superior performance, exceptional ease-of-use and lowest total life-cycle costs.

While electrochemical toxic gas detectors are the industry standard, there has long been a desire to make their applications more flexible, to improve ease of installation and to simplify maintenance procedures. The TS4000 meets these challenges and much more with a truly scaleable solution. It’s equally adept at providing a single-point of gas detection as well as service in large plant distributed multi-point systems.

Installation is fast -- one person can install the TS4000 in minutes with no special tools. To calibrate the detector, apply a magnet, then apply the gas and wait for the display to indicate that calibration is complete. It’s that easy—no user adjustments are required. Once installed, the TS4000 requires little or no maintenance other than periodic calibration checks to ensure system integrity. Even these checks are simplified with the breakthrough galvanically-isolated, intrinsically-safe design of the TS4000’s Interface Module.

The TS4000’s innovative Interface Module design allows maintenance staff to perform “hot” calibration checks without shutting off the power and without “hot” safety permits. There’s no need to declassify the area with the TS4000 on the job. With rising technician labor costs, the TS4000 offers exceptional productivity and labor-cost payback while protecting your plant and people from the health dangers of hazardous toxic gases.

The TS4000’s interchangeable electrochemical gas detection cells are available to monitor: Cl2, ClO2, CO, HCl, NH3, NO, NO2, O2, O3 and SO2. Sensor inputs and alarms are processed locally with the TS4000’s digital electronics. A 4-20mA output signal supports communications and alarms with PLCs or DCS. Dual-redundant MODBUS communications are provided via a RS-485 interface for remote monitoring.
