Next-Generation Toxic Gas Detection Systems Toxic
gas leaks at processing plants pose a danger in many industries, including
chemical, oil/gas, electric utilities, food & beverage, pharmaceutical,
pulp/paper, and wastewater treatment. Leak sources typically include pipelines,
valves, tanks, burners, freezers, separators, flare systems, aeration ponds
and other equipment. The distributed nature of equipment within large facilities
with complex processes often makes traditional point-monitoring gas detectors
either ineffective or cost prohibitive by themselves. The dangers of ammonia, chlorine, carbon monoxide, hydrogen chloride, nitric oxide, ozone, oxygen deficiency, and sulfur dioxide are all well known. Accidental exposure to these gases may cause severe injury or may even be fatal. In many industries and plants, a number of these toxic gases may be present within different processes or operations. There is frequently a need, therefore, to take a plant-wide or systems approach to toxic gas monitoring that provides an intelligent, integrated solution that is reliable, flexible, simple to implement and economical. While electrochemical toxic gas detectors are the industry standard, there has long been a desire to make their applications more flexible, to improve ease of installation and to simplify maintenance procedures. Our TS4000 Intelligent Toxic Gas Detector meets these challenges and much more. Installation is fast--one person can install the TS4000 in minutes with no special tools. To calibrate the detector, apply a magnet, then apply the gas and wait for the display to indicate that calibration is complete. It’s that easy -- no user adjustments are required. Once installed, the TS4000 requires little or no maintenance other than periodic calibration checks to ensure system integrity. Even these checks are simplified with the intrinsically-safe design of the TS4000’s Interface Module. The TS4000’s innovative Interface Module design allows maintenance staff to perform “hot” calibration checks without shutting off the power and without “hot” safety permits. There’s no need to declassify the area with the TS4000 on the job. With rising technician labor costs, the TS4000 offers exceptional productivity and labor-cost payback while protecting your plant and people from the health dangers of hazardous toxic gases. The TS4000’s interchangeable electrochemical gas detection cells are available to monitor: Cl2, ClO2, CO, HCl, NH3, NO, NO2, O2, O3 and SO2. Sensor inputs and alarms are processed locally with the TS4000’s digital electronics. A 4-20mA output signal supports communications and alarms with PLCs or DCS. Dual-redundant MODBUS communications are provided via a RS-485 interface for remote monitoring. In addition, the Interface Module (sensor) can be remotely mounted from the TS4000 transmitter up to 2,000 feet away. Versatile and Scaleable The advanced TS4000 Toxic Gas Monitoring System combines intelligent microprocessor technology, innovative packaging and industry standard communication protocols to provide superior performance, exceptional ease-of-use and lowest total life-cycle value. It offers a total toxic monitoring solution that is scaleable from single point monitoring to small plants with a few process lines to large plants requiring thousands of monitoring points across a large area. The TS4000, when combined with our MC600 Multi-channel Controller, offers a total toxic monitoring system solution designed to meet your needs in a wide range of industries. The MC600 offers an advanced gas monitoring system that sounds the alarm when toxic and combustible gases are a problem. One MC600 Controller can be hardwired to six of our TS-Series Toxic Gas Detectors, H2S and/or Combustible Gas detectors installed at strategic plant locations. It delivers a complete answer to hazardous areas—high performance, reliability and safety at a low cost per point.
